Incredible, aren’t they? This is why we FUND the arts. Why we tell history as it happened. These photos exist because the Federal Government stepped in and paid artists (in this case, photographers) to photograph the US during the Great Depression. Now we have not only our shared history in these photos but we also have our government stepping in and providing an income during bad economic times. If you don’t know about these programs, read up on them. It’s only through knowledge that we fight the dark forces that work so very hard to shut up true historical facts.
